Aww bugger

Either they've changed the blogger working layout or this Macintosh computer I'm attempting to blog upon makes things go weird... Anyways, took a break from studying, after yesterdays hard work today was fairly laid back, japanese grammar, pizza, more japanese grammar, intresting postcard for Ester, roma t-shirts for the kids and now the pub.... standing here, it's a weird setup..blogging whilst eating salt and vinegar crisps and drinking harp..kinda nice... Steini is going to pick me up afterwards for dinner (hope he brings some money) and then itìs back home for packing and cleaning, and off tomorrow morning ...

A Sirroccoan day in fun filled Rome

Amazing, today we managed to finish the packing and get the boxes off to Iceland..It remains however to be seen how many of the actually turn up in Iceland, when and in what state ;-)

Weird cold rains going on here in Rome, something called the Sirrocco, a Saharan rain thing that leaves the cars covered with brown mud... pretty weird and impossible to get out of ones clothes..

Wonder if it's me that's causing it, last time I came to Rome it was easter and they had their first easter snow in a century and now muddy rain..? hummmm

Feels kinda strange to be supposedly leaving Rome for good, not to have a home away from home here :-/

Anyways pretty beat as you can probably deduce by one monosyllabic sentences, catch up with you tomorrw..night night

Planning a holiday abroad???

Why not browse by here and see wether your intended hotel has been blacklisted by previous visitors.... pretty explicit images :-P

Aww now I've done it

I've gone and lost my phone :-( and can hence not send funny blog pictures via my mobile :-( oh well.. When I arrived all was as I'd imagined, nothing packed and everything left to do ;-) We're making some headway, nearly all books packed and two sets of shelves dismantled.... I've also managed to get in some quality drinking time as well. Steini is now working in one of the neighborhood Irish pubs so I went to pick him up on Saturday and we came home promptly..... 10 hours, 6 pubs and loads fewer Euros later ;-D

Then yesterday we went to church...o.k. stop with the gasping ;-) dad's really big on church so... at the end of the service the priest bad him farewell, gave him the new version of the book of common prayer which I thought was really nice... We then went out to dinner with all his church mates, which was fun as well.. you know the kind of fun you wouldn't like to do every day but is an experience in itself... There dad has this whole community to which he belongs and of which I know nothing. (Met some old teachers there though ;-) that reminiced about intresting chemistry experiments of mine resaulting in big exlosions and subsequent ear pulling on his part ;-) best not tell Ragnar about this quite yet....

well, had better get my (not so bony) ass accross the street again and contiue with the packing. At least I had a small shot of internet to counteract the imminent withdrawal syndrome ;-) Until next time... wonder what I'll have lost by then ... any bets?

News news

You know the feeling when you don´t feel like you have anything of interest to say but know once you get a ramblin there will be no stopping you ;-)
Wellll... in regards to myself I´m off to Italy tomorrow to assist dad with the moving up here (up here being Iceland). He´s finally letting go of the apartment he has there and "settling" down here in Iceland.. It´ll be strange not having a home there, seeing as he´s been there for the greater part of the past 20 years. I only lived there for two years but it still has that home feeling about it, I know my way around.....
Admittingly although it "sounds" like a fun filled trip abroad... I´m vary of such minor fact as the whole of my family having the inherent talent of taking procrastination to new and before unexperienced limits :-( Called them the other day (Steini and Dad) after they´d been there for three weeks supposedly packing and they hadn´t even bought boxes yet.... Ahh but on the bright side I´ll be tidying up in Rome ;-) Packing boxes in Rome and cleaning walls, floors and cupboards in Rome.... muahhhahhhaaaa ;-P
But anyways off tomorrow, doing loads of washing right now, making sure the poor kids have all they need for their respective stayovers, luckily they´ll have a non matching pair of socks and a t-shirt or two to take with them.

As for my packing, well the passport´s here as well as the ticket....anything else is surplus :-D

Ragnars speech disability is constantly becoming less and less noticable.
He crawled into bed this morning auch cold toes ;-) and listening to him was such fun, He went from pondering the end number of infinity, to dinasaurs, to molten lava, to sour milk, to the logic behind tickling to fishing techniques when fishing for sharks to ....... I´ve got the vague sensation that I do indeed own a part of him ;-) that scatterbrained jumping form one trivia to another sound familiar to anyone.. ..?

Zoom over to Elena, picture an american teen movie all the girls screaming a sqeeking and grabbing each other for no apparent reason. O.k. image in your head? Now zoom in on her playschool this morning and picture a group of small, extremely pink ponytailed girls, again all sqeeking and screaming and running to hug Elena complementing her hair and dress ..... Doesn´t bode well for me does it .... ;-) She is amazing, smart, quick and in many ways reminds me of my brother in as much as she craves constant attention.. I do often wonder though how I managed to get this small, fashion orientated, hyper social blond butterfly :-D My theory is that it´s in the genes but jumps every other generation, because mum was this fashion social kind of persona and poor her, she got stuck with a daughter who on her third birthday made a deal with her...No dresses or skirts except on birthdays and Christmas.. Jeans the rest of the time.. She´d have so loved spoiling Elena..

Oh by the way, got 8.5 on my archaeology and folklore course, now that´s closer to the grades I´m accustomed to ;-) (Haven´t been getting good enough grades in Japanese *blush* but come to think of it I´ve never done well with languages in school. No problem mastering a language once I´m there but Grammar ughhh..

Anyways .. until next time, "Live long and prosper" and by all means do something I wouldn´t do, and then tell me about it ;-)

aaarghhh ...pain...sorrow...... a hollow feeling inside..

Joss Whedon......

Some of you may have heard the hilarious news. I thought this would be a good time to weigh in. to answer some obvious questions: No, we had no idea this was coming. Yes, we will finish out the season. No, I don't think the WB is doing the right thing. Yes, I'm grateful they did it early enough for my people to find other jobs.

Yes, my heart is breaking.

When Buffy ended, I was tapped out and ready to send it off. When Firefly got the axe, I went into a state of denial so huge it may very well cause a movie. But Angel... we really were starting to feel like we were on top, hitting our stride -- and then we strode right into the Pit of Snakes 'n' Lava. I'm so into these characters, these actors, the situations we're building... you wanna know how I feel? Watch the first act of "The Body."

I've never made mainstream TV very well. I like surprises, and TV isn't about surprises, unless the surprise is who gets voted off of something. I've been lucky to sneak this strange, strange show over the airwaves for as long as I have. I don't FEEL lucky, but I understand that I am.

Thanks all for your support, your community, and your perfectly sane devotion. It's meant a lot. I regret nothing (except the string of grisley murders in the 80's -- what was THAT all about?) Remember the words of the poet:

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the road less traveled by and they CANCELLED MY FRIKKIN' SHOW. I totally shoulda took the road that had all those people on it. Damn."

See you soon.

FAE

You are blessed with FAERY wings. Beauty, laughter, life, magic...that's what you are all about. You are refreshingly innocent and happy with your life of purity and play. Life's a game and it's a good one. In your eyes there's no way to lose! You can be very mischeivous and have been known to cause trouble, but it's all in the name of fun and not meant to really harm anyone. You like to play tricks on people who aren't quite as bright or clever as you - which is almost everyone. Nature is the setting you prefer to be in - Always. Barefoot and wild you can't be tamed. You're probably a restless spirit who loves to travel, and quite a dreamer. Your creativity is astounding and your art (of whatever media - from writing to painting to drama) is like something from another world - ethereal and often very fantasy-oriented. You can either be a social butterfly or a loner with their head in the clouds - but rarely inbetween. You stubbornly refuse to accept responsibility or to give in to the wishes of others - unless you feel like it. You have a strong passion for music and can't imagine life without it. You'll grow up someday, but you'll always be a child at heart. You are adventurous and love to take risks, and feel a deep connection with the weather, plants, and animals. You prefer sunshine to thunder or snow, the warmth of summer to autumn's chill, and quiet forests to suburban backyards. Magic through and through, you are far more powerful than you seem, and are capable of being extremely passionate. Though you can be childish, naive, stubborn, and self-absorbed, one thing is certain - life with you will never be boring!

More on Love

And you thought matters of the heart were complicated here..? o.k. there, oh wherever you are ;-)

And on the various aphrodisacs ;-)

Happy Friday the 13th

For some reaseon Friday the 13th is an unlucky day in much of Western Europe, North America, and Australia. Many people avoid travel and avoid signing contracts on Friday the 13th. Floors in tall buildings often skip from 12 to 14. On a more personal basis it is the day my brother was borne ;-) Now you who know him may take this to be a reason in itself to be wary of the date ;-P But remember I still have the cute little mischievous version in my minds eye ;-) The cuddly one, not the hary scary big one ;-P

The Day Jesus Was Crucified?

Many Christians have long believed that Friday was unlucky because it was the day of the week when Jesus was crucified. The number 13 was believed to bring bad luck because there were 13 people at The Last Supper. Since there were 12 tribes of Israel, that number was considered lucky.

Roots in Norse Mythology

Thirteen was also a sinister number in Norse mythology. Loki, the trickster amongst the norse gods, went uninvited to a party for 12 at Valhalla, a banquet hall of the gods. As a result, he caused the death of Baldur, the god of light, joy, and reconciliation.

H.P. Lovecraft anyone?

The H.P. Lovecraft Historical society is holding a contest for all gaming geeks and Lovecraft fans. All you need to do is submit a "spell, drawing, chapter, or passage".

"although we have lots of material to include, we need the help of Lovecraft fans around the world to make this the best, most fun and useful Necronomicon imaginable"

Your entry could be included in the finished volume, and you could win a complete, handmade, leather-bound, super authentic copy of the finished work, done up in full 17th-century style at the insane level of detail the HPLHS is known for! And what better way to celebrate then than by playing the lovecraft drinking game ;-)

Keira Knightley for Jeannie Role?

imageBritish movie sensation Keira Knightley is being lined up to star in a movie remake of 1960s TV series I Dream Of Jeannie. According to Hollywood sources, the sexy star of Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl is set to beat American actress Jessica Simpson to the lead role - made famous by Barbara Eden in the hit show.
An insider reveals, "Keira is obviously in big demand at the moment, and was simply the number one choice for the role." In the original show, Larry Hagman played an NASA astronaut who discovers a mysterious bottle - with Eden's genie inside -while on a mission.

Lord Of The Rings Dating Manual:)

When you're trying to catch the cute guy's eye is the exact moment the dwarf will pick to approach you;
Eating raw fish is no longer a sign of a sophisticated date. (That said, you have to admit the Atkins plan is working for Gollum.)
If you're the only girl among 100 guys you'll still fall for the only one who has a girlfriend;
When overused, terms of endearment such as "precious" lose their meaning;
It doesn't matter if you look like Liv Tyler; your pining and whining will still get on people's nerves;
If you can get along on a road trip, the relationship will probably last;
There will come a point when it seems like the relationship should be over. Don't drag it out. Just end it there.

And finally, the mother of all dating wisdom:
Some people will go to any lengths to get a ring; others, having had one for awhile, will go to any lengths to chuck it into a volcano.

Stole this from Guðrún ;-)

Almighty Tallest Purple: You quit being banished?

Almighty Tallest Red: You will be sent to a planet so mysterious, no one has even heard of it!
Almighty Tallest Purple: Right! And those who have heard of it dare not speak it's name!
Zim: What's it's name?
Almighty Tallest Purple: Oh, I dare not speak it!

Vain I know.. but still :-D

It´s Canada day on Xanth.is..... hey why not??

First some really funny videoclips from Canada !!

If you are finding it difficult to find time to check your breasts for cancer then check out this ad ;-)

Then a Canadian tv man goes to the states and questions Americans on the Canadian states......the funniest part is at the end ;-) And finally he asks people about the Canadian national igloo.....

A Joke ;-)

On the sixth day God turned to Archangel Gabriel and said: "Today I am going to create a land called Canada, it will be a land of outstanding natural beauty. It shall have tall majestic mountains full of mountain goats and eagles, beautiful sparkling lakes bountiful with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, high cliffs over-looking sandy beaches with an abundance of sea life, and rivers stocked with salmon."

God continued, "I shall make the land rich in oil so as to make the inhabitants prosper, I shall call these inhabitants Canadians, and they shall be known as the most friendly people on the earth."

"But Lord," asked Gabriel, "don't you think you are being too generous to these Canadians?"

"Not really," replied God, "just wait and see the neighbours I am going to give them."

The world..

So many places left to see, so many people left to visit and only one life time to do it in... Had fun marking all the places I have seen though ;-)

Go here to create your own visited country map

Bah humbug..

What is it about closets (or in my case black plastic bags in the washing room due to absolute lack of space and no closets at all) that make perfectly good clothes just start shrinking away..?!?
I´ve noticed that this seems to be more common when dealing with nice expensive clothes of the sort one only wears once or twice a year... :-( Took out my deep red velvet corset and matching long skirt to get ready for Fridays grand dinner at school but alas...after all that dusty digging through what is my washingroom/storage facility/closet to find the right unmarked black plastic bag which was "of course" the last one to be opened I found that it had shrunk a size or two ... felt like bawling ... It´s not often I dress up but I like to do so well when I do.. now it seems a black sweater, a black skirt and black tights will have to do.... oh well...

You're the United Nations!

Most people think you're ineffective, but you are trying to completely save the world from itself, so there's always going to be a long way to go. You're always the one trying to get friends to talk to each other, enemies to talk to each other, anyone who can to just talk instead of beating each other about the head and torso. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, and you get very schizophrenic as a result.  But your heart is in the right place, and sometimes also in New York.

Take the Country Quiz at the Blue Pyramid

O.k. I´m officially envious !!

Chess has "finally" been officially cleared of it´s satanic affiliations... Surpricingly enough a dwarf dating showseems to be sparking controversy..more here ....... More on reality tv.... tits and Sex pistols... intresting concoction...
And finally Jackson lookalikes facing ruin.. aww poor sods ;-) They´ve made their life based on making fun of someone and now complain about their rights when they can´t... awwwww ;-P

Sorry one more just in.... Hasselhoff yes mr. knight rider/babewatch and major rock star in Germany is mighty miffed these days, apparently he has complained to museum curators after finding his photo absent in a collection of memorabilia about the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Hey ya´all in case you´re wondering where I´d dissappeared to I did send out a distress call but no one answered :-(

Anyways school has kept me moderately busy, been trying to read Genji with rather little entusiasm :/ managed to find some webpages to help me along, just thought I´d post them in case anyone was intrested...

O.k. to begin with the family tree is somewhat distorted...;-)

Here´s a list Of the stories main characters.
In depth summary of each chapter one by one ;-P.
